I like the idea of “Generosity Week.”
Today begins Generosity Week (Feb 23-28), the idea of which I like very much.
Generosity Week focuses our attention on financial disparity and encourages generous giving within our means.
As before, our own family will give generously this week to the Thrift Shops of the National Council of Jewish Women, among others.
As it says in its Mission Statement, the NCJW “strives for social justice by improving the quality of life for women, children, and families and by safeguarding individual rights and freedoms.” See, http://www.ncjw.org/content_76.cfm?navID=26 .
Tzedakah (charity) is fundamental. It is good not only for those who must take but also for those who can give.
Take a look at this site and consider what you too can do: http://generosityweek.org/
