The Sonnet before my Daughter’s Wedding

June 11, 2011

Imagine if you will a wedding day
With cloudy skies, a chance of rain, or such.
Does it portend a future that betrays
The couple’s hopes of happiness or touch?
I think the weather matters not for them.
The sun within that shines with love each day
Will weather storms and will not condemn them
To misery or strife.  To this I say
Their love is strong.  They’ll make a life of joy
From under clouds or in the strongest winds.
Resolve to care, I know that they deploy,
For one another.  This is what transcends
The weather of their wedding day and more.
The wind that comes will help their love to soar.
